Completion Date: January 2007

Project summary:

The Don's Home Furniture project gave life to the former Gordon Flesch Headquarter Building. This property sat vacant, along one of Madison's most heavily traveled highways for over a year, before being sold and renovated into what is today the showroom, warehouse, and corporate offices for Don's Home Furniture, a locally owned Madison business for over 30 years. The process of converting the very large office space into productive and attractive retail showroom space was no small task. The developed plan called for the complete demolition of all interior office finishes which amounted to over 253 tons of material. A concerted effort was made by Ideal Builders and Pellitteri Waste, and the team was able to recycle or reuse over 58% of the waste. The development was one of the first revitalizing efforts along Madison's "Miracle Mile" and was the catalyst for a number of other projects in the immediate vicinity. A true testament to what is possible when good people, bring new ideas to old neighborhoods with the goal of giving new life to this very attractive and visible South side location.
