Project summary:

Cornblooms is an established independent footwear specialty that has been in Madison's Hilldale Mall since 1984. As a key retailer at Hilldale, the Cornblooms owners felt strongly that the opportunities presented by mall owner Joseph Freed's investment and the redefinition of the Hilldale position within the Madison market, as well as the changing demographic that will be using the entire Hilldale property and in keeping with with high-end look being introduced at the mall, the time was right for more investment into the Cornblooms store. The renovation and expansion of Cornblooms took place during the winter of 2006, and after an overnight shift of merchandise, opened to much fanfare in time to coincide with the opening of Sundance Theater.

Cornblooms features fine footwear from around the globe for men and women. The store also carried top brands of fun and fashionable accessories, including socks, handbags, jewelry, watches and sunglasses. In addition, it offers kid's sizes of selected footwear brands. Cornblooms searches for styles that provide an optimum blend of fashion, function and comfort to satisfy their discriminating customers.

The Cornblooms space reflects the spirit of the independently owned store within its upscale mall surroundings. The robust design by the design firm incorporates a sophisticated sense of whimsy with a colorful palette of fabrics and unique textures. The design, with easy traffic patterns and lighting sensitive to the retail environment, creates a presence in the space that highlights the fine details of the product lines, creates a unique and positive shopping experience, and matches the care and attention taken in the product offerings.
