Project summary:
Destree Design Architects, Inc. provided architecture and interior design services to transform this Historic Local Madison Landmark into a premiere dining establishment. This intensive project rehabilitated the turn of the century Madison Woman's Building into two distinct restaurants featuring Brazilian fare. The flagship, Samba Brazilian Grill, is a fine dining Brazilian steakhouse drenched in rich tones of gold and plum offset by distressed flooring and dark wood furnishings and trim. The main dining room transforms the original auditorium into a multi-leveled show piece of grandeur interwoven with intimacy. The salad bar serves as one focal point of the main dining room with multiple glass tiers and a magnificent, exotic floral arrangement at its center. The other visual focal point is the restored, historic plaster proscenium framing the stage. Its ornate metallic gold detail adds luxury and distinction to the room.
On the lower level, the Cabana Room features stews and sandwiches and a more casual dining atmosphere. Taupe accents subdue the vibrant oranges and teals of the dining room while the bar's bamboo accents add texture and interest. The inviting lounge area rounds out the Cabana Room and makes it the perfect destination.
The interior design concepts for this project:
- What's new is new — we kept the Historic Ornamentation and Detail of the interior. New areas were detailed in a modern contemporary treatment to accentuate the historic, differentiating the new and old.
- Intense contemporary color was used in concert with dramatic lighting to create a grand dining experience.
- Create Theater - Activate the space using the Stage, Open Kitchen and Salad bar.
